All cars at the finish line and a podium finish in the M240i Cup class
GITI Tire Motorsport by WS Racing has mastered one of the greatest challenges in international motorsport: the team brought all four entered vehicles to the finish line at the ADAC RAVENOL 24h Nürburgring. The cheers were correspondingly great when the checkered flag fell on Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m.
Carrie Schreiner, Janina Schall, Patricija Stalidzane, and Fabienne Wohlwend were strong in the opening stages with the BMW M4 GT4 and moved up to second place in the Alternative Fuels (AT3) class within a few hours. An accident, however, slowed their progress shortly after 1 a.m. "In Metzgesfeld, we hit a GT3 car that braked abruptly before a Code60," said Schreiner. The all-female crew at the Girls-Only garage surpassed themselves and sent the M4 back onto the track after a quick repair. Due to this incident, the team dropped to seventh place in the standings but fought back to claim fourth despite further setbacks during the race. "Our M4 needed several rolls of duct tape over the course of the race. But giving up was never an option. Our girls truly rocked the race," praised Möller.
Finn Mache, Maximilian Eisberg, Luca Link, and Bernd Küpper also delivered a strong performance in the BMW M240i in the class of the same name. Starting from fourth position, the quartet quickly established themselves in the leading group and fought for podium places. In the end, their efforts paid off with a top result: third place. For Link, alongside Mache one of the two 24-hour debutants in the team, the nighttime stints were particularly impressive. "My night stints were anything but easy," he said. "It was very difficult to anticipate when the cars would come from behind and how fast they would be. But seeing the fans and the party along the track, and enjoying the atmosphere, was incredible."
The drivers in the two BMW 330i in the VT2 rear-wheel-drive class also completed the 24 hours without any major incidents. Thomas Ehrhardt, Niklas Ehrhardt, Jan Ullrich, and Fabian Pirrone celebrated sixth place in the highly competitive class. For the father-son duo Ehrhardt, this was an emotional moment: "It is the greatest gift to experience this adventure with Niklas. The feeling of fighting together as a team, conquering the Nordschleife together, is simply indescribable. Every moment of this race is precious. The most important thing was to reach the finish line and have fun. That’s a victory for us." Lukas Drost, Christoph Merkt, Kevin Küpper, and Theodor Devolescu finished seventh.
