The Gazelles Offroad Team shone in their debut at the legendary 2026 Dakar Rally, one of the most demanding off-road competitions in the world. With sponsorship from Giti Tire, Helen Tait Wright and Marcella Kirk faced the challenges of the 48th edition of the event, held from January 3 to 17 in Saudi Arabia. The journey started and ended in Yanbu, on the shores of the Red Sea, totaling 8,000 challenging kilometers. The route pushed participants to their limits with a relentless mix of vast stretches of sand, towering dunes, rocky sections, and segments with high navigational difficulty, demanding maximum skill and resilience.
Competing in the Classic category—one of the event’s most fascinating, bringing together vehicles produced before 2005—Helen and Marcella faced and overcame every obstacle imposed by the course while maintaining a steady focus on consistency and endurance. At the end of the competition, the team reflected on the magnitude of the experience: “Dakar was far more than just driving. It was a complete and fully immersive experience, undoubtedly like no other on Earth. We tested our limits in every respect and returned stronger and more resilient”.
A team sponsor since 2021, Giti supplied the Giti4x4 AT70 tires used not only in this event but also in other off-road competitions the Gazelles have taken on, such as the Rallye des Dames de Coeur, the Santana Trophy, and the Rallye des Aventuriers Solidaire. In Dakar, every kilometer was a masterclass in perseverance, and crossing the finish line represented a spectacular victory. For Giti, this achievement is a source of immense pride: the result of courage, preparation, and the strength of a partnership that believes in the talent and determination of women who push boundaries in off-road racing.
