Giti Tire has held its first ever dedicated European heavy goods vehicle (HGV) ride-and-drive customer event – the Giti Truck Trek Experience. Held at Transpolis, a world-class proving ground for innovation and safety in Lyon, France the event was attended by over 40 Giti distributors and dealers from across Europe to coincide with the new Verified by Customers marketing campaign. Day one consisted of a number of driving challenges including Evade & Brake, with the driver performing an emergency stop from 80 kph on Giti GSR259, GDR675 and GTR955, and an Urban Truck Ride with a tricky manoeuvres course and a tight parking test on Giti GAM851 and GDM687. Freewheeling allowed the drivers to test the Giti GSR259 and GDR675 along a long slalom course, and a Technical Workshop Masterclass gave attendees an in-depth insight into the Giti truck and bus (TBR) product portfolio. |
For the thrill seekers, a high-octane off-road taxi ride in Truck Team Holten’s modified Mercedes 1622 800HP and Scania 4x4 630, both fitted with Giti GAO897 Off Road tires, demonstrated how Giti’s takes its involvement in extreme sports and adapts those learnings to its R&D.
On day two, Giti distributors and dealers were treated to a French Experience Day, with a visit to the village of Perouge and the Fondation de l’Automobile Marius Berliet, a private collection of commerecial vehicles, car, engines and components followed by lunch and wine tasting.
A short video of the Giti Truck Trek Experience can be found on our Video Hub.
“All Giti distributors and dealers are completely brought into the TBR portfolio and philosophy, but once they get behind the wheel of a truck and try the tires for themselves their understanding of the products’ performance goes through the roof,” says Petr Cajka, Truck and Bus Director - Europe for Giti Tire.
“This is the basis of our Verified by Customers marketing campaign, because once you have experienced the tires in-situ you have far more confidence in selling the tires and services to major truck and bus fleets.
“I would like to personally thank everyone who joined us across the week from all over Europe, now it’s time to take the Giti message to market.”
