Giti tires and Yangwang U9 break through performance limits again
In a technical verification test held at the Nürburgring circuit in Germany, the BYD Yangwang U9, equipped with ultra-high performance track tires, the GitiCompete GTR1, reached a top speed of 391.94 km/h, setting a new land-speed record for Chinese automobiles. It has been more than 150 days since the first Yangwang U9 arrived at the so-called “Green Hell”, on June 8. During this period, was completed two verification tests: top speed at ATP test site and comprehensive track performance at Nürburgring Nordschleife.
On May 28, 2024, at the Yancheng test site in Jiangsu, China, the two brands had already achieved another significant milestone. Equipped with GitiSport e.GTR2 Pro tires, the Yangwang U9 reached a speed of 375.12 km/h, well above the top speed of 309 km/h announced three months earlier during its launch. Based on these experimental results, the vehicle plan was quickly optimized and moved to the German ATP test site to achieve a higher speed, increasing from 309 to 391 km/h in just one year.
