ID. Buzz World Tour Crosses 16 Countries in Latin America and Continues Toward the Guinness World Records

The expedition, sponsored by Giti Tire, goes beyond 80,000 kilometers across 78 countries and tests the reliability required for a global-scale electric expedition.

After completing its Latin America leg, the ID. Buzz World Tour expedition continues its global journey seeking to set a new Guinness World Record: visiting the greatest number of countries in a trip made with a 100% electric vehicle.

Led by German pilot and adventurer Rainer Zietlow, holder of eight Guinness records, the expedition has already covered more than 80,000 kilometers and visited 78 countries around the world. During its time in Latin America, the Volkswagen ID. Buzz crossed 16 countries: Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, and Brazil, facing different conditions of climate, altitude, roads, and charging infrastructure.

As the expedition's global partner, Giti Tire accompanies the journey by providing GitiSynergy H2 tires, developed to meet the specific demands of electric vehicles and used as original equipment (OE) on the Volkswagen ID. Buzz by Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles. The model incorporates technologies aimed at reducing rolling resistance, contributing to energy efficiency without compromising fundamental aspects such as safety, braking, and maneuverability.

More than a technological demonstration, the trip represents a real-world test for all the components involved in one of the longest journeys ever made in an electric vehicle. Over more than a year on the road, the ID. Buzz remained virtually unmodified: the only adaptation made was installing a mattress in the rear so that Rainer Zietlow could rest during the longer charging periods.

According to the driver, the experience of covering more than 80,000 kilometers confirmed the reliability of electric vehicles, which feature a simpler mechanical architecture and require planning focused mainly on range and charging infrastructure.

The expedition also revealed the practical challenges of an electric journey that crosses continents. In different regions, the team had to adapt to different charging infrastructure realities, using alternative solutions in places where conventional stations were not yet available.

For Zietlow, the mission goes beyond the world record. The project seeks to demonstrate that electric mobility can already cross borders and cover long distances when combined with proper planning, technology, and infrastructure.

The ID. Buzz World Tour experience also highlights the role of technologies developed specifically for the new generation of electric vehicles. The GitiSynergy H2 tires used in the expedition were designed to keep up with the demands of this type of vehicle, combining energy efficiency, reduced rolling resistance, safety, and performance in real-world conditions.

During its time in Latin America, the expedition held meetings with customers, dealerships, employees, distributors, and the media, bringing the experience of electric mobility closer to local communities.

After leaving Brazil, the ID. Buzz headed to the Middle East, advancing its global challenge. The vehicle's location, images, videos, and details of each leg can be found on the expedition's official website: https://idbuzz-worldtour.com/
